~ Marketing in the Age of Aquarius ~

As publisher of the "Metaphysical & Holistic Florida Directory" from 1995-2002, I learned firsthand the challenges faced by spiritual teachers and healers in marketing alternative methodologies to a mainstream population.

As I moved into niche marketing in this decade, it became increasingly apparent why my body-mind-spirit clients resisted narrowing the focus of their business into a stronger niche - it was because of their compelling urge to serve humanity. They didn't want to leave anyone out.

And as we near the end of this millennium's first decade, many soul-guided entrepreneurs are still struggling to keep their businesses afloat - even though they are exceedingly proficient in their chosen work.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same."

It's true that we have made giant inroads into the mainstream over the past 20 years. For example, in Florida, a metaphysical college (CMS.edu) is recognized by the state's Department of Education; Feng Shui is now commonly used for selling houses; millions of people discuss the Law of Attraction all over the internet; and alternative healers are often a first choice of people who get sick.

So - why aren't more of us doing better financially? Why are talented metaphysicians still hesitant to take a leap of faith away from jobs they hate into work they love?

And - here's the kicker - why aren't more of us making better use of the new Web 2.0 media that are tailor-made for Aquarian Age businesses?

YouTube, for example, is an ideal showcase for health instructions, sermons, author interviews, meditations... just for starters.

Blogging is one of the top tools for anyone with a passion for writing.

If you're a "how-to" teacher, Squidoo is just the ticket.

Spiritual teachers would have a blast on networking sites such as Ryze, Facebook and Powerful Intentions.

Yet many metaphysicians and soul-guided business owners are not using these Web 2.0 tools, even though they could get extensive attention for their business - at no financial cost.

I'm aware of these resources because I keep up with the better marketing ezines and blogs for my line of work. I'm not 100% proficient in them - yet - because (1) there is a learning curve to each one, (2) there are sooooo many of them now, and (3) not all of
the resources are suitable for metaphysical/spiritual/holistic entrepreneurs.

But I do intend to investigate and learn - and as I do so - I will take notes. I will then translate these notes into easy-to-manage "how-to" lessons which I'll present as written tutorials, e-books and teleclasses. (Maybe even YouTube videos when I learn how ;-)

I have already created a step-by-step tutorial on how to set up your Typepad blog which you can download free here.

And another on how to make an attractive flyer with Microsoft Word.

On May 21st at 7:00 PM (EDT), I'll be presenting the first of my free teleclass tutorials especially designed for soul-guided business owners, including healers, spiritual teachers,
inspirational writers, coaches and intuitives.

The topic is "Recession-Proof Your Business" and you'll learn many, many ways to secure your business for tough economic times. Here's where you can learn more.

This summer, additional "Aquarian Age Technology" teleclass tutorials will be on:

(1) Multiple streams of income for spiritual teachers.
(2) How to create a web presence without an expensive website.
(3) ... Stay tuned to this newsletter for updates.

My mission for the coming year, at least, is to get lightworkers and soul-guided business owners up to speed on the readily available technologies in the easiest way possible... to have the greatest impact on the people who need you most.

In other words, being the information bridge between your inspirational, healing work and the practical needs of the marketplace.

I'm by no means an expert in all of this stuff - but I can point you to experts in those areas in which you'd like to become more proficient.

What I really want to do is help you explore - without feeling nervous about it - the Web 2.0 technologies that seem out of reach, only because you may not have learned them yet. And to make the learning easy, fun and useful for your business success.

We don't have to learn everything... but we do have to get started. This is the Aquarian Age, after all, and we have so many of these wonderful interactive communication tools just waiting for us to say something.
