WHAT DO YOU CALL YOURSELF? by Barbara Casey 
When advertising for my target audience, I bill myself as a "Spiritual Marketing Consultant" serving the lightworker community. Lately I've been narrowing my niche even further to "Spiritual *Niche* Marketing Consultant" because, essentially, what my clients and I create is the business niche where their soul's urge and the needs of the world meet.

But that's only half the picture. What I am... really, is a person who inspires people to dream bigger and set their sights higher, especially when it comes to their business life.

If you've been following these newsletters for awhile, you might recall articles called "In Business to Raise Consciousness," "How Big Do You Dream?" or "Amping Up Your Business Energy." When I look back over three and a half years of newsletters, what I see are useful marketing tips and resources, and an equal or greater emphasis on encouragement and inspiration.

As business people, we're always in a process of expanding our skill base (hopefully) so that we can offer greater value to our clients. As a marketing consultant, I'm continuously looking for new ideas via books, ezines and teleclasses. Every healer, teacher and counselor I know is constantly attending this seminar or that, to increase their proficiency and glean new ideas for their practice.

What often happens with this expansion of understanding, however, is either an expansion in the scope of their work - or a new direction for their business altogether. I've seen this happen time and again, when the old structure and focus of the business didn't fit the new energy trying to break loose.

It takes vision - and courage - to leave the tried and true behind, especially if it's been paying the bills sufficiently well. And when you do climb that next rung on the ladder, what do you call yourself?

The crowds thin, the higher you go. As your work becomes more refined, the type of people ready for your services becomes more defined. Do you continue to use the same terminology to describe what you do... or do you fashion for yourself a fresh, new image? Will the new level of clientele respond to the old words, or will they see themselves more easily in a different picture?

How do you see yourself while this transition takes place? You're still the same person, but working at a new level. What happens when it's time to print new business cards? What words will you now place under your name to describe the work you do? As our work continues to evolve, these are things we need to think about.

What is the highest vision you can currently see for your business? Even if you haven't reached it yet, the fact that you can "see" it, means you're most likely ready to work at that level. Can you give yourself a new "label" based on this higher vision?

What we call ourselves is important, because it sets the tone for our overall business theme. It tells prospective clients what we stand for.

For example, one of my clients is a "Life Coach Specializing in People with Terminal Illness." Her mission is to bring life to the dying process, to make this the most interesting, meaningful and miraculous time in the life of a person given a diagnosis of terminal illness. Her title sums up the work she does and the very specific clientele she wishes to serve.

SELLING FROM YOUR HEART by Susan Carlson 
The first step in Selling from Your Heart is to have a product or service that you believe in and are passionate about. This will set up the essence of how your communication will come across. People do hear what you say, but they also get a feeling about what you're saying and about you, particularly on the phone. It's important to tell them the benefits, make sure they have all the information and a clear experience of you as a person, so they can feel a sense of trust. After you've done that, you can let go knowing you have fully done your job and the process of choice for the potential client or customer begins.

How to Give People a Sense of Trust and Certainty:

This happens through not only what you say, but where you come from about it. I think that's why so many business people who are in the "healing arts" have trouble selling their services. They are really good at what they do, but when it comes to talking about it to other people, they lose their confidence.

Here's the Secret to Success:

Take a minute right now to look inside and feel how it feels to provide the service or product you offer to people. Remember the difference you make in people's lives... how you heal, uplift, and help to spread the word about different products and services that make a contribution to the planet. If you bring yourself to the phone call or meeting in this frame of mind, the other person will feel it and will be open to what you have to offer. If it's something they really want, they will say YES and purchase what you are offering.

Guiding Your Prospect Through the Process to See If What You Are Offering is a Product or Service They Want or Need:

This is where real skills are needed. The skill of staying in "Creation vs. Reaction." This is where most people have some trouble. Here's what really happens. As an example, I'm a coach talking to a prospective client and everything is going very well. I sense they really like me and they are beginning to get an idea that breakthroughs are really possible for them. They start talking about how they've tried everything and nothing has ever really worked and how sad they feel about that, etc.

Now here's where you make your choice - you can either be seduced by their mind's conversation, or you can stay committed to the conversation you have about the product or service you believe in and feel passionate about. This is where you need to be their friend, and just observe what they are saying rather than hearing it like it's the "truth." This is a good time to take their hand and walk them through the process, and help them to stay clear so they can make a conscious choice for themselves.

Once you position yourself as a trustworthy person, as someone who is interested in that person's well being and not just in making the sale, you've got that person's attention; now they will listen. Once that happens, it's time to begin asking them to buy. Sometimes people keep talking after trust in the relationship has already been established and never ask the person to buy their product or service. By the way, while you are talking to the prospective client or customer, you are feeling better and better because you are coming from your "true self," not manipulating or coercing, just communing. You can feel the vibrational difference and so can the other person. That's why they ultimately want to be around you and buy what you have to offer.

I read Susan Harrow's book "Sell Yourself without Selling Your Soul." She said, "Have every client feel like a Lover... Have partnerships of passion." My favorite clients are the ones who feel like "Partnerships of Passion" because they are the most fun and most productive. When you approach selling your product or service coming from a place of friendship and service, you tend to attract people who want to have that same experience and it will be much easier to have them buy what you have to offer.

Blending all of these skills together will help you enjoy what you're doing while successfully bringing many new clients and customers to your business.
