Your dream business often starts out as a dream in your
own mind and heart. I hope you enjoy this article by
Suzanne Falter-Barns about how to turn your dream into
a reality.
~~ RUN YOUR DREAM LIKE A BUSINESS ~~
by Suzanne Falter-Barns
This may come as something of a shock to you, but if you
are pursuing a dream in earnest, you are, in fact, running a
business.
Yes... a business.
I know it seems unlikely that your passion for writing
romance novels, or your urge to lead treks through the
Himalayas could ever be anything more than an interesting
sideline. You may even think about it as some sort of long-
term extracurricular activity. Your passion could in all
likelihood be a business; but it won't be as long as you treat
it this way.
Think about it. You say you want to be a romance writer,
but have you gotten a business card or letterhead that
identifies you as such? Have you named your business,
and registered it with your county seat? Have you set up
books? Made income and expense projections, or even
tracked your income and expenses? Have you created a
business plan, looked for investors, a manager, or a good
agent? Have you found out what it takes to get a business
loan, or joined the Romance Writers of America?
If you're like most of us, the answer to these questions is a
resounding "No." Many of us don't honestly believe our
dreams deserve to be businesses. Yet, at the same time,
we long for the results only a business can produce.
What if you set up your writing ambitions, or your trekking
getaway concept as a legitimate business -- even if you
haven't yet written or word, or planned a trek. Logic would
insist that this is a preposterous waste of money, and an
act of egocentric nonsense. But the heart would disagree.
Instead, it would take comfort from the fact that it's finally
being listened to.
That's the funny thing about getting a business card or a
business license. Once you commit your plan to paper and
public record, wheels begin to turn not only in your brain,
but also somewhere out on the cosmic plain as well. Your
commitment begins to grow as your foolish feelings subside,
and slowly, your dream becomes a reality.
Christine Moriarty, a Vermont-based financial coach, first
alerted me to the importance of setting up your dream as a
business. When I met her I was just starting to make enough
money to be a full-time writer. Still, I had one little personal
checking account, all my receipts got tossed in a big
envelope, and my business and personal expenses were a
mixed-up hodgepodge that never got straightened out
adequately until tax time. Furthermore, I spent money on
my business willy-nilly, without any kind of plan at all. My
motto was 'if it feels right, do it.' Consequently, I ran out of
money from time to time.
After Christine broke it to me that I actually was running
a business, she made me get a business checking account.
And to do that, I had to register my business with the
county. Even though my books were selling, and I was
getting publishing deals, I felt remarkably silly. I kept
expecting the town clerk that stamped my form to break
into giggles when she read my application and saw
"Writing and Speaking" under "Type of Business." And I
felt even sillier when the big business check book arrived,
looking like something Bob Cratchet might have pored
over while working for Scrooge.
The part of me that wants to stay twelve forever thought
all of this business stuff was patently absurd. Yet, the larger
part of me that understands how these things work was
silently cheering. Yes, I would be out a bit of money every
month for the cost of running a business. And I'd have to
dedicate new time to learning how to keep books, and
maintain them. But according to Christine, the pay-off would
be increased abundance on all fronts. By treating my dream
seriously, I was not only traveling that much further down
my path, I was learning new and important lessons in my
development. I have since learned that making a living
from your dream is quite doable -- and the rate of return has
everything to do with how much seriousness and energy
you put into that dream's development. My income actually
doubled the first year I got the big black business
checkbook, growth I attribute to the simple fact that I was
forced to take my business seriously. And it continues to
increase each year as I expand my reach, and relax into
the larger job that I am here to do.
I’ve learned that money is the conduit that helps you fulfill
your mission in life. Only by being willing to receive payment
for the work of your dreams, and having a system in place
to support that, can you extend your reach and touch those
whom you must touch. Money is the essential grease that
lubricates the engine of your dreams. And the amount of it
that flows through your life is equal to the reach you extend
into the world.
Can you look at your dream and honestly say you want to
stay small and hidden, that you don't want the additional
prosperity - and responsibility - that comes with growth?
If you're worried and uncertain, let me reassure you that
you probably will not push yourself further than you are
ready to go at any given time. Nor will you be able to
receive more than you can handle. That's just the way
prosperity flows through the world.
What you can manage to some degree is your comfort
and ease with money, and the maturity of your relationship
with it.
So, why not consider your dream a new and delicious
business? You have everything to gain, and only your
fear and self-doubt to lose.

~~ HOW TO WRITE AN E-BOOK FASTER THAN IT
TAKES TO READ THIS ARTICLE ~~
by Joe Vitale
How fast can you write an e-book?
Though Jim Edwards and I wrote a #1 best-selling
e-book titled "How to Write and Publish Your Own
OUTRAGEOUSLY Profitable e-Book in as little as
7 days," you can do it even quicker than 7 days.
How?
Here are at least three ways:
1. Don't write it.
That is, speak your book and then transcribe it
using a service such as http://www.idictate.com. Or use
one of the voice recognition software out there, such as
Dragon Naturally Speaking. Either way, if you're more
comfortable speaking than writing, speak your book first.
2. Coauthor it.
You can make yourself almost instantly famous by
associating yourself with someone who is already
famous. Jim Edwards came to me over two years ago and
asked to coauthor a book with me. He said he would do
most of the work. I agreed. The result was the e-book I
mentioned above, which continues to be a bestseller.
Since then, Jim is now a recognized authority in his
own right and has written numerous other e-books.
3. Make soup.
This is the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" approach to
creating a book. You don't write a word. You simply ask
people for contributions.
Joe Kumar did this with his popular e-book "30 Days to
Internet Marketing Success." Joe is a teenager in Singapore,
totally unknown until he compiled his ebook and made himself
an online celebrity.
Jo Han Mok and I just did this with our new book,
"The E-Code." We simply wrote people and asked for their
contribution. It's amazingly easy to do. You can be unknown,
and famous people will give you contributions.
Again, writing e-books doesn't have to be hard or take a lot
of time. The trick is in delivering something people want. Do
that and no one will care if you wrote your baby in an hour,
a day, or a week.
But once it's written, you can make passive money
from it for a long, long time.
Go for it!
